Raising Awareness at the Texas Civil Engineering Conference
January 2024
ASCE Texas Section’s CECON Planning Committee is pleased to announce that the 2024 Texas Civil Engineering Conference (CECON) will be held in person this September 18-20 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Dallas Frisco Hotel & Convention Center. This event focuses on speakers and technical seminars related to this year theme “Raising the Grade”.
With the upcoming 2025 ASCE Infrastructure Report Card (texasce.org/infrastructure-report-card/ )it is only fitting that for this year’s CECON program we showcase, celebrate, and highlight the engineering communities’ work and accomplishments over the last four years within most infrastructure foundations that has contributed to continual improvement and betterment of our state’s infrastructure, covering including transit, aviation, water, energy, and many others. With Texas infrastructure being relied on to service close to 30 million people, our engineering community has been called on time and time again to develop dynamic solutions, improve processes, and utilize emerging technology to help improve and maintain the rapidly growing, and rapidly changing, infrastructure across this great state. Increasing safety, quicker construction timelines, smarter vehicles, are just a few examples of the many challenges posed to our industry that have shaped how we practice engineering today. We want to showcase the great work and projects, but also share the lessons gained from the things that may not have worked as well as we thought. All with the common goal of sharing knowledge, so we can continue to improve and “raise the grade” for Texas engineering and infrastructure.
CECON 2024 will provide a wide array of general topics to educate engineers across all civil engineering disciplines focused on improving our infrastructure ranging from planning and design to management, implementation, business, and community. This year’s conference will also include topics and content focused on several of the ASCE Texas Institute Chapters (like geotechnical, water and utility resources, structural, transportation, and forensics), offering dedicated programs throughout the event. See the 2023 CECON program for the many tracks and sessions offered (texascecon.org/program/).
The CECON 2024 Planning Committee is actively seeking dynamic speakers and topics in keeping with this year’s “Raising the Grade” theme – we encourage everyone to get involved this year to help advance our profession and our industry. The Call for Speakers and topic recommendations is now open. Click the link below to submit your submission.

Not the speaking type? No problem! Plenty of opportunities exist this year to participate in the many conference Sponsorships or showcase your company’s service/product offering as an Exhibitor. These CECON investment opportunities, as a speaker, exhibitor, and/or sponsor, all offer unique means to engage in-person with your peer group and make connections with individuals you would be hard pressed to find all in one room any other time.
In addition to the great technical program, this year’s CECON will offer a multitude of networking opportunities inclusive of group meals featuring keynote speakers, coffee breaks, breakout sessions, and breaks therein, evening socials through sponsored events, multiple exhibitor mixers, and the presentation of ASCE Texas Section’s 2024 annual awards during the CECON Gala… and much more. Beyond the value of the programs and content offered by CECON 2024, the personal interaction opportunities amongst engineering thought leaders in Texas and beyond is well worth the price of admission!
“All of the topics have been good, and I enjoyed the social events along with the Day Tripper. I believe it’s worth the price of admission for good fun and good learning.“
– CECON 2023 Attendee
The CECON 2024 Planning Committee and ASCE Texas Section Board of Direction would like to thank the community for supporting ASCE Texas Section programing and CECON. Past CECON events serve as a significant resource stream to enable ASCE Texas Section to create and sponsor programming that benefits all of us. We look forward to seeing you in Frisco in September!
