Meet the Board: Colton Gill PE

The ASCE Texas Section Board of Direction members were asked to fill out a questionnaire so that the Section’s members might get to know them a little better on a personal level. These are Director-at-Large, Colton Gill’s answers.

How has ASCE helped you in your career?

ASCE pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow into who I am today. My involvement pushed me to lead and grow in ways that I would have otherwise missed.

What do you love most about being a civil engineer?

There are very few careers that have the everyday impact that a civil engineer has. Our work is integral to everyone’s day to day life whether it be through drinking water, transportation, or the homes we live in.

When did you know you wanted to be a civil engineer?

I didn’t put it together at the time, but as a kid I loved building Hot Wheels cities and building dams out of dirt in my backyard. Now, I design real life roadways and help

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Outside of spending time with my wife and two-year-old son, I love hunting. Come September, you will find me in the mountains.

What would your superpower be?

Flying. I could get places so much faster, and I could skip traffic!

Mountains or beach?

Easy, it’s the mountains for me.
