“Breaking Barriers” at CECON 2025

The ASCE Texas Section’s CECON Planning Committee is thrilled to announce that the 2025 Texas Civil Engineering Conference (CECON) will be held from September 17-19 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Marcos Hotel and Conference Center!  Our dedicated CECON volunteers are excited to bring together an inspiring program shaped by this year’s compelling theme: ‘Breaking the Barrier.’

Advances in technology and the lessons we have learned are transforming industry practices shine brightly under this year’s theme, ‘Breaking the Barrier.’ Professionals driving innovation, addressing challenges, and delivering creative, out-of-the-box solutions will be at the forefront of this event!  If you would like to sponsor or exhibitor, see the link: CECON 2025: Sponsor & Exhibitors

With the release of the 2025 Texas Infrastructure Card this past March, it has become evident that our industry must persist in seeking innovative solutions. While some progress is visible, with the overall grade rising from a ‘C-‘ in 2021 to a ‘C’ in 2025, backlogs in maintenance continue to pose significant challenges. Funding remains a pressing concern, but the key to securing a sustainable future lies in rehabilitating existing infrastructure and constructing new, longer-lasting systems. Continuing education credits (CEUs/PDHs) play a vital role in equipping professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle these modern challenges which of course will be available throughout the conference.

Staying informed and advancing our practices is essential, and continuing education opportunities provide critical support for professional growth. Equally invaluable, however, is the chance to build meaningful connections—reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, finding a mentor, or even becoming a mentee. These networking opportunities forge relationships that transcend the workplace. No matter your role, you’ll leave with a renewed sense of purpose and return to your workplace inspired by fresh ideas and a revitalized mindset. Let’s celebrate one another and invest in our community—whether as a speaker, exhibitor, sponsor, or attendee. Engage with your peers over coffee breaks, breakout sessions, and evening socials to make the most of this incredible experience.

Our long history of CECON events lays a strong foundation for the ASCE Texas Section, bringing us together as colleagues and friends. The theme “Breaking the Barrier” aligns perfectly with the idea of pushing boundaries—whether it’s overcoming industry challenges, fostering innovation, or advancing knowledge through continuing education and partnership. It’s a powerful message for inspiring progress and sustainability across civil engineering practices! The CECON 2025 Planning Committee and the ASCE Texas Section Board of Directors thank our community for supporting ASCE Texas Section initiatives and CECON 2025. We are excited to see you all in San Marcos in September!
