ASCE Texas Section Awards Presented at CECON 2024
Last September at CECON 2024, ASCE Texas Section members recognized exceptional persons and projects within the Section and throughout our civil engineering community. These honorable individuals are nominated by their peers in acknowledgment of their service and accomplishments. The following awards honor engineers who, through their professional work and volunteer endeavors, have made significant contributions to advancing the field of civil engineering and improving the quality of life in Texas and beyond.

- James Williams PhD, PE, F.ASCE – Professional Service Award
- Carol E. Haddock PE, F.ASCE – Service to the People Award
- Nancy S. Cline PE, F.ASCE – John A. Focht Jr. Citizen Engineer Award
- David Matocha – Award of Honor
- Alexa Nichols PE, CFM, ENV SP – Young Civil Engineer Award
- Montsserrat Najera – Outstanding Civil Engineer Student Award
We had the honor of presenting the Texas Outstanding Civil Engineer Achievement Award to the Bois d’Arc Lake Program, the 2024 award winner. Representatives from the North Texas Municipal Water District and Freese and Nichols were present to receive this prestigious recognition.
Additionally, in recognition of the OCEA Award of Merit, two remarkable projects were honored: the Memorial Park Connector in Houston and the I-35 Waco Project. Teams from BGE, Inc., Ardurra Group, and the City of Houston attended to accept this award
