Looking Ahead to a New Season and #CECON2024: Embracing Change and Tradition

As the summer wraps up and the school year begins, we are all hoping for cooler weather —though we realistically know that in Texas, we might not see it until the end of September, if we’re lucky.  We look forward to the routine that the fall brings with the small children back in school, adult children off to college for the year, or just the routine that naturally occurs at work with colleagues and all the standard activities that get interrupted by our summer vacations and activities.

At ASCE Texas Section, we look forward to the upcoming CECON conference in Frisco, Texas which also happens like a routine at the same time frame, mid to late September, each year. However, it’s exciting to switch up the routine, knowing that starting next year, CECON will bring the opportunity to explore new locations.

I hope you can join us in Frisco for #CECON2024, with the theme of “Raising the Grade” and then in San Marcos for CECON 2025 next year.  It will be held on September 17-19, 2025. Stay tuned for the dates and locations of CECON 2026 and beyond.

I want to thank the CECON Planning Committee, led by Sr Co-Chair Stephen Archer PE and 1st Year Co-Chair Carlos Balderrama PE, for all their hard work and dedication to getting the program complete, keynote speakers, and panels As a presidential goal to focus on K-12 STEM, I am thrilled that CECON Planning STEM Sub-committee, led by Nalah Williams EIT, has put together a full segment introducing K-12 students to civil engineering during the event.

Thanks for being a civil engineer

See you in Frisco!!!
