Webinar: A Review on the Material and Structural Characteristics of Geopolymer Concrete
December 17 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CST
$15 – $25Description
Of late, the continuous depletion of the ozone layer and global warming have increased the awareness of the construction industry in using more eco-friendly construction materials. Against this background, geopolymer concrete has started to gain significant attention from research scholars and construction practitioners due to its advantageous in using by-product waste to replace cement and reducing greenhouse gas emission during production. It also possesses better mechanical properties compared to conventional concrete. Despite these advantageous, the use of geopolymer concrete in practice is limited. This is mainly due to the lack of the studies around the material properties, structural elements, design and application studies. This presentation will provide insights on the material and structural performances of geopolymer concrete and look at areas where further research is required. Analysis shows that geopolymer concrete can replace conventional concrete with its better mechanical properties and more desirable structural performance compared with conventional counterparts. The application of design standards on full-scale studies for structural elements should be established to ensure its feasibility in practice.
